The BEST beef rib I've ever had. The brisket is incredibly moist and has an amazing flavor, almost a smoked sweet. Save room for dessert because the chocolate bread pudding will be the best you've ever had, too! Flavors of coffee make this rich, decadent dessert a must have!
I was visiting our daughter & son inlaw They suggested HRTBBC . The food was delicious. The ribs were tender, also the brisket. I wasn't used to rubs on the ribs .but it was different. But yet good. Awesome service, too! Texas hospitality
Delicious! Lives up to the hype with great taste and expert preparation. The beef brisket was meltingly tender. A But the biggest surprise were the pork ribs. Best in Texas! Most folks hereabouts would not even think of ordering pork ribs at a BBQ restaurant in Texas, but you should here. They are not fall-off-the-bone tender (they would not be any better if they were), but are instead meaty and thick, like a beef rib. Love the BBQ sauce, too, but it's on the side if you're not into sweet. All that said, I am not a fan of virtually everything else on the menu, except maybe the baked potato. The pulled pork, compared to NC pork, is awful. The potato salad, Cole slaw, pickles, onions, are best left in the bag or put in the trash. I've read about the owner's background and story behind his recipes, but they are not to my taste. YMMV. Get the brisket or pork ribs and BBQ sauce and be happy.
I've had this place marked as a BBQ place to try due to all the great reviews and our son gave them a try and bombarded us with pics. I needed his help today and we decided to treat him for lunch, he got to pick where. He suggested Harlem which is what i was thinking....sure glad great minds think alike. We thoroughly enjoyed the sliced brisket, tender and full of flavor, the pork ribs were amazing and almost falling off the bone, We loved both sausages, their regular and the chipotle. The housemade BBQ sauce was tasty but not really needed and the pickled onions and pickles paired well with everything we made disappear. If my wife didn't keep feeding our grandbaby brisket in a timely manner....she'd holler, yup, that good. This is now in my top five 'Q list. The outside of this place doesn't look like much but with 'Q this good it don't matter. We'll be back for more meaty goodies! The even sell their own coffee beans, got me a bag of whole beans and a nice t shirt. We were too close to Harlem BBQ so we had to pick up some togo goodies, sliced stellar brisket and some tasty ribs and some whole coffee beans....don't see this option at many 'Q joints, they have great 'Q and coffee beans.
My boyfriend and I stopped in today. Omg. Best beef rib, that I have ever had. Brisket was fantastic. I love their version of potato salad. I don't eat a lot of pulled pork, but I tried my boyfriend's. It was amazing. Keep doing what y'all are doing.
This place is truly a hidden gem. We'll, maybe not quite hidden to the locals, but for those outside of the area, it doesn't receive the accolades that more popular Texas bbq spot get. I mean, this is one of the best in all of Texas, and I've had lots of the big names and small ones from the backwoods to the city. The meats are phenomenal here, perfectly smoked, not overly seasoned with a bunch of salt, just good ole fashioned low and slow smoky Q. The ribs needed no sauce, but the sauce is very good if that's your thing. I usually only go for the point on the brisket, but this place has mastered brisket because the flat was tender and juicy. The different take on coleslaw was such a nice touch, not just some cabbage drenched in ranch, but instead a nice array of vegetables in a lighter olive oil type dressing that was delicious and better than any bbq spot I've ever had. The Mac and cheese with burnt ends was just yummy. Also, we tried the sausage, and it was another one knocked out of the park. The only drawback here, like all the great smoke houses, is they run outta meat! They are done by 4 from what Clem told me who gave us excellent service. We will be back amdakr sure we beat the crowds. They also do some specialty meats that they run outta early before lunch as those who have found this spot will snatch up pounds.
The locals of Richmond, TX, had told me about this little gem right off Harlem Rd. It was worth it so I could get my brisket fix when I'm at work. They were out of the beef ribs, which I wanted to try. They had plenty of brisket. I get the moist cut. Well, at least I asked for it, but I got a mixed cut of both. Personally, I don't care for the lean cut, but that's me. The bark was amazing, and the flavor was great. The lean was a little dry. The bark was a bit salty, but that's perfect for me. I tried their Mac and Cheese, which was good. What I love most about this little restaurant is the old country backyard BBQ feeling I got once I arrived. I stopped by during my lunch, so I did not get to enjoy that full experience. I did get the chance to meet the owner and pit master of the joint. He offered me a free drink as I waited for my order to be completed and served. He was extremely helpful and provided great hospitality. Overall experience is a 5. I'd definitely be back to try more of the items on the menu.
Really good pork baby back ribs. Decent rub, not too salty. No need to add sauce. The beef rib was the best I've had. Tender & not too greasy.
